Kingston Council adopts Governance and Cultural Improvement Action Plan

News

The City of Kingston has endorsed a new Governance and Cultural Improvement Action Plan, outlining a series of practical initiatives designed to strengthen governance practices, foster a collaborative organisational culture, and support effective leadership and decision-making.

Kingston Mayor Cr Georgina Oxley

The plan was developed through a dedicated councillor working group established earlier this year, drawing on input from all councillors, council officers, and the council’s Municipal Monitors. Its development reflects a period of structured reflection across the organisation.

Mayor Georgina Oxley described the plan as a clear blueprint for the remainder of the current council term. “Good governance is not a one-off exercise — it requires ongoing reflection, leadership and a willingness to keep improving,” Cr Oxley said.

The plan includes biannual progress reporting to both the council and the Minister for Local Government.
